The Water Safety Syndicate is a professional infrastructure organization focused on aquatic competence, swim instruction, and drowning prevention implementation.

We exist to bridge the gap between research and real-world practice by helping swim instructors, aquatics professionals, public health leaders, researchers, and advocates work from a stronger shared foundation.

Too often, the people studying drowning prevention and the people teaching water competence are separated by language, access, training, and systems. WSS was created to close that distance by translating evidence into practical tools, professional education, and collaborative spaces for the people doing the work on the ground.

Our mission is to elevate swim instruction as a meaningful part of the drowning prevention ecosystem.

We believe swim instructors are prevention professionals, and that teaching quality deserves the same attention as curriculum, messaging, and access. Through research translation, instructor development, professional collaboration, and implementation support, WSS helps move the field toward clearer standards, stronger practice, and a more connected future.

Coaches of competence. Champions of prevention.
